Project: First-floor master “Hers” closet in glazed ivory melamine with a peninsula packing counter in dark glazed birch and full glazed beadboard backing. The design contains seeded glass inserts, beadboard profile doors, drawers and applied end panels, glazed extra-large crown moulding, continuous base trim, fluted panel columns and Venetian bronze hardware. Oil-rubbed bronze accents are included in the clothes rods, hamper basket, belt rack, valet rod, shoe fences and pull-out mirror.
Entrant's Goals: This closet was designed for a Craftsman-style home with a “farmhouse” flair. The family has five young children and will use a second floor master for themselves until the children are older, so this space needed to accommodate extended-stay guests, as well as the wife in the future. Luggage storage was a must and was created behind an open-backed, perpendicular, long-hang area in the angled alcove. The packing counter allows a guest to easily unpack, store and hang their personal items and use the space as a dressing room. The glazed ivory profile creates a “feminine” approach to this space and lends itself to the style of the rest of the home. (Note: There is an additional “His” closet that contains Chocolate Pear melamine with matching beadboard profile and backing.) Working with the contractor and project team, we were able to remove and relocate a multitude of obstacles during the project.
